As part of the METHAREN project, we interviewed Ms. Eliza Correa Ito, leader of work package 9, Coordinator of the METHAREN project, and Product Development Engineer at Technip Energies Netherlands.
Background
Q.: Could you share your professional journey up to the METHAREN project?
Ms. Eliza Correa Ito: I handle project management on R&D projects focused on bringing new technologies to achieve the carbon emission targets. As for my background, I am a chemical process system engineer with experience in the development of process modeling applied on advanced process control. In METHAREN, I represent the Technip Energies Netherlands (TEN-NL). Technip Energies is a leading Engineering & Technology company for the energy transition, with leadership positions in liquefied natural gas, hydrogen and ethylene.
Role in the project
Q.: Could you share the main aims of the work you are leading in METHAREN?
Ms. Eliza Correa Ito: In METHAREN, I am leading the very last work package (WP), i.e. WP9 – Project management and ethics. WP9 aims to oversee the general implementation of the project, ensuring timely completion of all project objectives, milestones and deliverables while reporting to European Commission.
Progress and Challenges
Q.: What is the progress achieved so far for WP9?
Ms. Eliza Correa Ito: Along the first 18 months, the project achieved the 7 milestones for the period and timely submitted the 9 deliverables expected during the first reporting period.
Q.: Have you encountered any challenges along the way?
Ms. Eliza Correa Ito: The main challenge encountered was related to leading the exchanges with European Commission and 18 involved partners on several project management and financial aspects. Identifying the project priorities considering the main needs of each partner allowed to overcome this main challenge, as well as ensuring all adjustments on budget and schedule timely.
Next steps
Q.: What are the next activities planned for you and for TEN-NL overall in METHAREN?
Ms. Eliza Correa Ito: TEN-NL will ensure the contribution of all WPs for the pilot plant phase and foresee the risks and mitigation actions needed for the coming project activities.
