Our main business activities are waste collection, biowaste treatment, clean water distribution and wastewater management, energy services through natural gas distribution and commercial activiteis connected, as well as district heating services.

Role in the project

Q.: Could you share the main aims of the work you are leading in METHAREN?

Ms. Ilaria Galvagno: In METHAREN, I am leading the sixth work package (WP), i.e. WP6 – Operation, monitoring, and analysis of the pilot. During WP6, the performance and cost-effectiveness of the full METHAREN system will be investigated under various operating conditions at ACEA’s site. Finally, the analysis of these results will lead to an optimisation strategy on the different components, while the techno-economic and social/environmental life cycle assessments will study the potential for industrialisation and replication of the project solutions in a near future.

Next steps

Q.: What are the next activities planned for you and for ACEA overall in METHAREN?

Ms. Ilaria Galvagno: The WP6 has just started; in the next months, the pilot commissioning and start-up are starting. These will be the first steps towards the pilot operation and all the other WP6 activities.
